At the Syracuse Center of Excellence in Environmental and Energy Systems, our mission is to be a hub for innovation and accelerate the transfer of technologies from lab to market. One of the ways we work toward that goal is by supporting a summer internship program that benefits both students and businesses. The SyracuseCoE Industry Collaboration Student Internship Program provides experiential learning for students in CNY while helping local companies advance their strategic objectives. To date, 42 companies and over 125 students have participated.

SyracuseCoE has awarded four businesses up to $3,000 each to support their hiring student interns for the summer of 2024. These companies will provide paid internships to students pursuing degrees in science, engineering, or architecture.

The selected companies are:

  • M3 Innovation, based in Syracuse, NY, designs advanced LED lighting solutions for the sports lighting market.
  • Kermise, also based in Syracuse, is a new energy company that develops software for building automation systems for efficient management and monitoring.
  • MicroEra Power, based in Rochester, NY, is developing an on-site thermal energy storage system to decarbonize buildings while enhancing heating and cooling system performance.
  • Mission Power, based in Potsdam, NY, is a developer of next-generation power electronics for power conversion.

The Industry Collaboration Student Internship Program is a competitive initiative open to industry members of the SyracuseCoE Partner Program, a network of startups, companies, community-based organizations and faculty working to accelerate the development and commercialization of innovations in the environmental and energy sectors. Partner Program members can leverage SyracuseCoE resources such as research and development, technical assistance, multi-scale testbed facilities and labs, as well as funding guidance.
